Gloucester is our second-busiest area after Cheltenham, and about twenty-five minutes from the workshop. We cover the city and the surrounding villages out towards the Severn.

A large share of Gloucester’s older housing is Victorian and Edwardian terraced, particularly around Tredworth, Barton and the Bristol Road corridor. These properties tend to have narrow side returns and small rear yards, which makes the side-return extension and the compact lean-to conservatory far more relevant here than the large wrap-around builds we do in the Cheltenham suburbs.
The post-war and later estates — Abbeydale, Quedgeley, Hucclecote, Longlevens, Kingsway — are a different proposition, with wider plots, standard cavity walls and the space for a full rear extension or orangery. Kingsway in particular is recent enough that most properties are still on their original glazing, and replacement windows and bi-folds are the common request.
Parts of the city sit on the Severn flood plain, and that has a genuine bearing on groundworks, base construction and building control for extensions. We check the flood zone designation as part of the survey rather than discovering it later.
